PROJECT DETAILS:
Norfolk Marine has established itself as a market leader for the installation of anodes to marine structures by the means of underwater welding.
This has been achieved by continual updating of our equipment and methods whereby we now own and operate two Hammer Head specialty weld systems for underwater welding and have in continual employment a team of coded diver welders together with NDT inspectors.
Norfolk Marine was contracted to install cathodic protection anodes to Stormount Wharf in Belfast Harbour. 250m of new quay was constructed as part of a £10 million redevelopment project to upgrade Stormount Wharf. This will allow four deep-water vessels to berth simultaneously. The project required the installation of 428 anodes of between 44kg and 99kg in weight. Norfolk Marine supplied the diving team along with all lifting equipment and surface crew.
The Stormount Whaft project followed Norfolk Marines successful completion of the installation of cathodic protection anodes to the new Stena Line ferry berths at VT4 in Belfast Harbour. This involved the wet welding of 700 anodes of between 88kg – 150kg anodes to the newly constructed combi-wall.
